Allan S. Feingold has been practicing law in Chicago for 38 years, having received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University Of Illinois. Throughout his career, he has focused his practice on representing parties in personal injury, real estate, business, corporate, and estate matters.
Originally concentrating on personal injury cases, he continues to obtain substantial settlements for his personal injury and worker's compensation clients. As chief counsel to a real estate development firm, he expanded his practice to include sophisticated real estate and business transactions, attaining expertise in the areas of acquisitions, finance, secured transactions, exchanges of fractional partnership shares, land trusts, 1031 tax-free (Starker) exchanges, and commercial leases.
His commercial lease practice includes negotiating, drafting, and litigating commercial leases, and representing commercial landlords, including downtown office buildings, and many shopping centers, in commercial lease litigation, involving both evictions and lease enforcement. He frequently represents buyers and sellers of private residences, multi-unit apartment buildings, and shopping centers, and is currently an agent for two major title insurance companies.
His clients include purchasers and sellers of small and medium-sized businesses, for whom he incorporates new businesses, forms business corporations, partnerships, and Limited Liability Companies, and sets up buy-sell agreements and operating agreements among share holders.
His many years of probate experience ranges from small, unsupervised administrations, to those with assets in the millions; and ranging from amicable distributions to bitter family feuds. He has drafted many wills and living trusts, and is experienced in minor's estates and guardianships of disabled persons.
In the early years of his practice he was, and continues to be, active in handling serious traffic offenses, such as DUI and driving while suspended or revoked.
His civil litigation practice includes not only law cases for money damages, but also cases in equity, involving special remedies such as injunctive relief, declaratory judgment, partition of real estate, specific performance of contracts, and dissolution of partnerships. He is a graduate of the Fred Lane course in trial technique, and has litigated cases in Cook County, as well as the outlying counties, including DuPage, Lake, Kane, and Will Counties.
Mr. Feingold enjoys the challenge of litigation and the court room environment, and keeps his trial skills well honed. He also enjoys the transactional nature of negotiating and drafting contracts and commercial leases, and putting together complex business transactions. In counseling clients, he applies his broad knowledge and experience to overlapping business and personal issues, and their financial and practical consequences.
Throughout his career, Mr. Feingold has maintained and broadened his expertise by enrolling in continuing education courses in all of the areas of his practice. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, and of the General Practice and Civil Litigation Sections. He has two grown children, and lives in the northwest suburbs with his wife Judy.
